An excellent post by Andrew Churches from www.fluency21.com in which he explores the role of the teacher in developing global digital citizens. He suggests teacher as mentor, guide, role model, mediator, the skilled practitioner…more than a teacher of a subject.
Developing digital literacies and fluencies required of ethical and responsible global citizens cuts across all subject areas and is the responsibility of each teacher and every school leader. The idea of “whole school digital fluency” as a strategy for innovation and transformation is needed to inform and drive the role of the whole school community in developing global ditital citizens – including teachers themselves!
